Active voice	Passive voice
When the subject performs an action, it is active voice.	When the subject is acted on by the verb, it is passive voice.
Compare:
Brazil grows coffee. Coffee grows Brazil. (wrong)	Coffee is grown in Brazil. (right) Subject + be + V3/ed
e.g. Halogenoalkanes undergo elimination reactions when heated with ethanolic sodium hydroxide, forming alkenes.	e.g. The C-I bond is broken during its reactions.(распадается). e.g. Halogenoalkanes are attacked by nucleophiles.(атакуются). e.g. If one or more of the hydrogen atoms in an alkane molecule are replaced by halogen atoms, the compound is called a halogenoalkane. (заменяются)
